The type of personal information we collect

We currently collect and process the following information:

How we get the personal information and why we have it

Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you for one of the following reasons:

  • To create an account on the Drop Wine App

  • To place an order from the Drop Wine App

  • To sign up to the Drop Newsletter

We use the information that you have given us in order to:

  • Deliver the wine you have ordered and communicate with you about this delivery

  • Make subsequent deliveries easier to arrange

  • Understand what wines our customers are ordering and manage the wines we offer in the future

  • Understand how our customers are using the app and website in order to make improvements

  • Send you our latest news and offers if you have opted into our newsletter or placed an order on the app

  • Contact you for market and product research purposes

  • Keep internal business records


We may share this information digitally with our mailing list provider (Mailchimp), our analytics services (Mixpanel and Google Analytics), our app/website developers (Strikersoft) and our payment processor (Stripe).

Your name, address, email address and phone number are shared with your local Drop in order for them to send you your order.

In addition the name, address and phone number of the recipient of an order will be shared with our courier partners both digitally and physically in order to deliver the wine.

Lawful Basis For Processing

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the lawful bases we rely on for processing this information are:

(a) Your consent. You are able to remove your consent at any time. You can do this by contacting admin@dropwine.co.uk This basis is used when you sign up to the Drop Newsletter and other communications from our website or in our bars.

(b) We have a contractual obligation. This basis is used to deliver your order when you place an order on the app.

(f) We have a legitimate interest. This basis is used to ensure we can offer you the very best service in the future and tell you about new products which will be of interest.


How we store your personal information

Your information is securely stored in our cloud based management system. This is hosted by AWS in their Dublin data centre.

We keep your contact details and order history for 5 years from your last order. We will then dispose of your information by deleting this from our management system and email service.


Drop Wine Shop and Bar Network

Drop Wine is an app (DropApp Ltd) and a network of independent wine shops and bars across London and the UK. When you place an order on the Drop App your order is fulfilled by the shop closest to your delivery address. In order to fulfil your order your personal information will be shared with your local shop. This includes your name, email address, phone number and physical address.

Customers in the shops and bars may join the mailing list of the individual business or Drop App Ltd. By sharing your contact information for this purpose you consent to the use of your data for marketing purposes. Your personal information can be added to our email provider via an online form (Mailchimp) or by filling out a physical card when visiting one of the shops/bars. Physical cards are stored securely at each shop/bar before being added to the mailing list provider at which point they are destroyed.

Changes of business ownership and control

Drop App Ltd may, from time to time, expand or reduce our business and this may involve the sale and/or the transfer of control of all or part of Drop App Ltd. Data provided by Users will, where it is relevant to any part of our business so transferred, be transferred along with that part and the new owner or newly controlling party will, under the terms of this privacy policy, be permitted to use the Data for the purposes for which it was originally supplied to us.

We may also disclose Data to a prospective purchaser of our business or any part of it.

In the above instances, we will take steps with the aim of ensuring your privacy is protected.
